When the Weather Doesn’t Wait: Formwork That Handles the Elements
December 8th, 2025
Death, taxes and the weather on site not working with your schedule, is usually how it goes. It could be rain clouds that move in as you are mid-pour, powerful winds smashing against everything in sight or the freezing winter temperatures that can push concrete deadlines out. While teams have learned to adapt, the reality is that any of these factors put significant pressure on projects when the equipment that is being used is incapable of withstanding these elements. This is why the design of your formwork system is absolutely pivotal.
For formwork manufacturing at Gael Form, weather resistance isn’t an afterthought, we engineer our panels with it from the beginning. You know if you are operating on a Manchester high-rise construction in the cold and challenging environment that the north of England brings in December, you have the quality assurance for our talented team that built your system with a combination of precision and extensive expertise.
To take a closer look at our DMP system, similar to all our formwork, it’s manufactured in our factory in Ireland and shipped globally. While going through the process the panels are designed with durability front and center. The galvanised steel frame on our DMP formwork is not just a nice finish, it is there as a form of protection against corrosion, which can not only come from being on site but can also appear as a result of storage in damp environments. Complementing this is the reinforced corner preventing the structure distorting under pressure, pressure that can come from many sources, including the weather. Working in the rain, the thermoplastic overlay fends off water seepage and enables easy maintenance which is critical for extending the lifecycle of your panel.
Our TPS formwork also delivers important weather-focused design features. To prevent moisture becoming problematic over time, it’s phenolic plywood core is coated in a high-performance resin that stands up to it and also enables teams to easily clean the panels. Similar to our DMP system, standing up to corrosion is critical and is addressed with the galvanised frames you will find on Gael Form’s TPS. Once these panels are maintained with consistent power washes after each project and stored correctly, the return on investment is significant no matter what environment you use them in.
For teams who need flexibility without the burden of heavy lifting, our FrameLite panels offer a lightweight system that can still function no matter the weather. The panel’s 15mm thermoplastic plywood sheet acts as its layer to fight off water absorption when being used or left outside. Unsurprisingly, following on with our common theme, FrameLite panels also are built with galvanised steel frames, allowing them to deal with whatever the weather forecast throws at them.
You must accept that the challenges the weather brings are not going away, but if you approach construction with the right formwork, there is no need to be concerned about delayed timelines or compromised results. When you invest in a system that handles the elements, you are investing in the success of your projects. To learn more, get in touch with us here: info@gaelform.com
